Asian Countries and Capitals
Asia is the largest continent in the world and is home to approximately 60% of the human population on the globe. There are over 4 billion people living across the continent in 48 countries. These countries sometimes differ considerably in wealth due to a long history of economic ties, government systems, as well as the people who come from different cultures, environments and ethnic groups.East Asia consists of The People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong, Macau, North Korea, South Korea, the Republic of China (Taiwan), Japan and Mongolia. The capitals of these nations are, in order, Beijing, Hong Kong, Macau, Pyongyang, Seoul, Taipei, Tokyo and Ulaanbaatar. Some of them are known in every corner of the world, even to those who have not visited them. But stories of their wealth, touristic value, nightlife and culture have reached the ears of many across the globe. In the eastern part of Asia lies Vietnam, which has its capital at Hanoi, and is often included in this region.
In the southern part of the continent one can find Bangladesh (capital at Dhaka), Pakistan (Islamabad), Nepal (Kathmandu) and the Republic of India with its capital at New Delhi. Here in the south of Asia are the beautiful Maldives islands, the republic to which the city of Male plays the role of the capital. Another country is Sri Lanka, which has the very unusually names capital Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte. Bhutan, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Iran are the last remaining countries of Southern Asia whose capitals are Thimphu, Naypyidaw, Kabul and Tehran, respectively.
In Southeast Asia more countries exist, each standing proud with great beauty and an impressive total number of residents. Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia are the largest of them, with the well-known capitals of Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta, which gather thousands of tourists each year to seen and live the way the locals do. Brunei is another nation in the area, with its capital in Bandar Seri Begawan, Cambodia (capital: Phnom Penh), Singapore with its capital bearing the same name and the great Laos, capital city of Vientiane.
The list of Asian capitals could not be complete without the beautiful Philippines islands (capital at Manila), as well as Papua New Guinea (Port Moresby) and the very tiny Eat Timor (Dili), Christmas Island (The Settlement) and the Cocos Islands (West Island).
